My evolving ten-year research effort in developing the natural eternal consciousness (NEC) theory and establishing it as a scientific theory resulted in the publication of seven articles, which preceded the publication of my book. The best way to analyze, design, and produce something—a computer system or program, database, device, structure, or theory—is to document it. Attempting to define and explain it in writing as precisely as possible so that others can understand it forces one to think more clearly, uncover flaws, and simplify it.

Below is each article’s publication date, title (given as a link), and publisher. A brief description explains its contribution to the evolution of the NEC theory.

Jacob’s Ladder, his heavenly dream (Genesis 28:10-19)

May 30, 2013 – “Perhaps Heaven Is Your Never-Ending Dream and Natural Afterlife on Owlcation
This first article claimed a natural afterlife was highly likely based on dreams and near-death experiences (see first image). This probability was based on speculation that a dying person would never know these experiences were over with death, just like we never know a dream is over until we wake up.

July 11, 2013 – “The Heaven of Your Natural Afterlife: a More Revealing Look” on HubPages
This article sought to describe better the essence and the aspects of a natural afterlife.

November 07, 2013 – “Your Natural Afterlife: the Non-Supernatural Alternative to Nothingness” on HubPages
This article was written to briefly introduce the natural afterlife, referencing other more detailed articles—the previous two and others in the future.

Why something vs. nothing

August 2, 2014 – “Why Something vs. Nothing and the Essentialness of Consciousness” on Owlcation
Although this article was not about the natural afterlife, it emphasized the importance of consciousness in providing what we perceive as reality—indeed, the importance of consciousness in providing any reality (see second image). This realization led me to appreciate more the natural afterlife, an afterlife that is an illusion created by an imperceptibly frozen consciousness resulting from death.

December 2016 – “The Theory of a Natural Afterlife: A Newfound, Real Possibility for What Awaits Us at Death” in the Journal of Consciousness Exploration & Research
This article was the first one on the natural afterlife published in a scholarly, peer-reviewed psychology journal. The theory of a natural afterlife, or Never-Ending Experience (NEE) theory, based on dream-like experiences just before death—i.e., dreams and near-death experiences (NDEs)—was thoroughly analyzed. However, it was only nearly “proven” in this article.

Winter, 2020 – “The Theory of a Natural Eternal Consciousness: The Psychological Basis for a Natural Afterlife” in the Journal of Mind and Behavior
This article “proved” the existence of the natural afterlife by formally deducing the NEC theory, a more general theory than the NEE theory and one based on cognitive science principles. More importantly, the article also established the NEC theory as a scientific theory. The NEC theory states that any final experience becomes a NEE (never-ending experience) with death and is a natural afterlife if perceived as such by the dying person.

Summer, 2022 – “The Theory of a Natural Eternal Consciousness: Addendum”  in the Journal of Mind and Behavior
The final article improved on the analysis, deduction, and testing scenarios that support the NEC theory. It also emphasized that the natural afterlife, thought timeless and illusionary from the perspective of the living, is perceived as an activity-filled, real experience from the perspective of the dying person.
